In order to promote the effective use of CTV, The Hong Kong Printers Association (HKPA) has successfully applied funding from Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to organise the project “Colour. Method. Master : GBA ReCreates the World’s Colour” (“Colour. Method. Master”), with Advanced Printing Technology Center (APTEC) as the implementation organisation.
CTV Pilot Scheme and Production of CTV Characterisation Dataset are two important schemes. APTEC has organized hybrid briefing session on Jun 11 and Jun 12, 2024, to introduce the contents of schemes. The response was very good. APTEC had received over 90 applications for both schemes. The vetting committee selected qualified printing companies on Jul 4, 2024.
In addition to the above two programmes, APTEC will also hold public training courses, participate in exhibitions, hold the “HK Summit – Global Printing Standardisation cum CTV Certificate Presentation Ceremony”,etc., comprehensively promote the “CTV Certified Printing Company”, and promote different activities through different channels.

Is the most representative printing organization in Hong Kong. Since its establishment in 1939, HKPA has not only witnessed the development of the industry, but has also grown with it. Through its communications with governments and other institutes; delivering the latest information through different channels, various conferences and study missions; as well as establishment of APTEC, HKPA has enhanced the cohesion and competitiveness of Hong Kong’s printing industry, and has acted as a bridge connecting it with the Mainland and the rest of the world.
Established in 1999, is the technology transfer centre under HKPA. APTEC has played a leader role in technology transformation and enhancement for printing and related industries, especially printing standardization, including the first batch of ISO/TC130 China Experts, the pioneer for introducing G7 certification to Greater China, strategic partnership with Fogra to promote PSO and PSD certification, initiation of CTV as the first GBA printing group standard and the creation of the first characterisation datasets for CCNB (Clay Coated News Back) and white board by using CTV.
“CTV Pilot Scheme” targets to recruit 15 to 20 printers (mainly from GBA, and the remaining few from other Mainland cities and ASEAN countries). For the participating printers, APTEC will offer on-site CTV training, including theory and hands-on practice, i.e. to print with CTV method by using the printer’s own press machine, and on-site audit.
The participating printers which completed the training with audit and achieved the target will receive the “CTV Certified Printing Company” qualification from APTEC. In addition, a subsidy will be granted to the participating printers which meet the specified requirements.
For the “Production of CTV Characterisation Dataset Program”, offset and flexographic printing companies in GBA were recruited to produce six characterisation datasets for different materials. In addition, six printing companies are recruited for verifying the datasets produced by offset printing in digital printing. A subsidy will also be granted to the selected printing companies.
